グアテマラの聖週間は2022年にユネスコの無形文化遺産の代表一覧表に記載されました。宗教兄弟会が担う行列がアンティグアとグアテマラ市の街路をうめ、色を染めたおが屑と花で描かれた敷き絵の上を進みます。
その半年後の11月1日には、同じサカテペケス県のスンパンゴの町が、墓地のかたわらで巨大凧の競い合いを開きます。これはグアテマラの文化財として認められた習わしです。
