What this archive will and will not say, and why. These are enforced rules, not intentions.
What this covers so far
Four volumes are open: Iran, Japan, Türkiye and Morocco. Iran is the furthest along; the other three are beginnings, and none of the four is finished. The archive is published as a public beta, and entries appear only as their sources are verified — so every volume is deliberately far smaller than its subject. Nothing here is a survey of everything practised in a place.
Nothing unsourced is published
Every entry records the material it was written from, and the system refuses to publish one that has none. Where a source is a general reference work rather than a specialist study, the entry says so.
Dates are derived, never stored
A recurring practice is stored as its calendar rule — a day in the Solar Hijri or Islamic calendar — and Gregorian dates are calculated from it. A date whose rule has not been checked against a named source is shown as estimated, however exact the arithmetic behind it.
Unknown is not the same as safe
Where the archive does not know who may attend, or what is expected of a visitor, it says unknown rather than leaving the field blank. A blank reads as permission.
What a model may and may not do
Drafting assistance is used only on material an editor has supplied, and its output is a suggestion until a person promotes it. No model writes cultural content from its own knowledge, and none touches safety information. This site’s interface translations are machine-produced and marked as unreviewed until a native speaker has checked them.
