スイスの大きな町の祭りは、賑やかで、早朝から始まり、どこまでもその土地のものです。バーゼルの謝肉祭は朝四時、まだ暗いうちに始まり、ちょうど七十二時間続きます。ベルンの玉ねぎ市は、十一月の月曜日に首都の旧市街をうめます。

この地図に載る二つの祭りは、スイスのドイツ語圏の都市のものです。バーゼルのファスナハトは2017年にユネスコに記載された国内最大の謝肉祭で、灰の水曜日の次の月曜に始まります。ほかの多くの謝肉祭より一週間遅い始まりです。ベルンのツィベレメリットは農家の市が民衆の祭りになったもので、毎年十一月の第四月曜に開かれます。
どちらも土地のものであることを誇ります。バーゼルの謝肉祭は町の方言を生かしつづける助けとなり、ベルンの市は19世紀にゼーラントやフリブール州から玉ねぎを町へ運んだ農婦たちから育ちました。
