تمتد أعياد البرازيل من مدارس السامبا في كرنفال ريو إلى الأمازون، حيث تسير مدينة كاملة وراء تمثال صغير للعذراء مربوط بحبل طوله أربعمئة متر، وحيث تتنافس جمعيتان للثور بالأزرق والأحمر — وكل ذلك متجذّر في تقاليد برتغالية وأفريقية وأصلية.

كثير من أعياد البرازيل الكبرى تجمع التقوى الكاثوليكية بتقاليد أفريقية وأصلية وبرتغالية. جاء الكرنفال مع المستعمرين البرتغاليين ثم أخذ إيقاعات السامبا التي أدخلها الأفرو-برازيليون؛ ويجمع سيريو دي نازاريه الإيمان بثقافة الأمازون ومطبخها؛ أما بومبا مي بوي، بموت الثور وقيامته، فقد نشأ من حياة المستعبَدين وعمّال الريف.
واثنان من أعياد هذا الأطلس مدرجان على القائمة التمثيلية للتراث الثقافي غير المادي للبشرية لدى اليونسكو: سيريو دي نازاريه، المدرج عام 2013، والمجمّع الثقافي لبومبا مي بوي في ولاية مارانياو، المدرج عام 2019.
