تتبع معظم الأعياد الهندوسية تقويمًا قمريًّا شمسيًّا، فتنتقل تواريخها في السنة الميلادية من عام إلى عام. وتنشر حكومة الهند كل عام التواريخ الرسمية للأعياد الرئيسية، ومنها أُخذت تواريخ هذه الصفحات.
والهند كذلك أكثر بلدان هذا الأطلس تباينًا في العُرف المحلي: فالعيد الواحد قد يُحتفل به على نحو مختلف تمامًا في كلكتا أو ماثورا أو تاميل نادو. وتذكر الصفحات متى كان العُرف خاصًّا بمنطقة معيّنة.
