Dari ritus musim semi Hıdrellez hingga tarian berputar para darwis Mevlevi pada Desember, perayaan Turki memadukan irama musim, tradisi Islam serta pertandingan berusia berabad-abad seperti gulat berminyak di Kırkpınar.

Untuk kehidupan sipil, Turki memakai kalender Gregorian, tetapi hari raya keagamaannya mengikuti kalender candra Islam dan bergeser sekitar sebelas hari lebih awal setiap tahun; beberapa adat musim seminya berkumpul di sekitar 21 Maret dan 6 Mei, titik balik musim yang lama.

Banyak perayaannya tercatat pada daftar warisan takbenda UNESCO — di antaranya gulat berminyak Kırkpınar, pesta Mesir Macunu, Hıdrellez dan upacara Sema Mevlevi — dan beberapa telah digelar di tempat yang sama selama ratusan tahun.
