تحفظ تركيا التقويم الميلادي للحياة المدنية، لكن أعيادها الدينية تتبع التقويم القمري الإسلامي فتتقدّم نحو أحد عشر يومًا كل عام، وتتجمّع عدة من أعرافها الربيعية حول الحادي والعشرين من آذار والسادس من أيار، وهما نقطتا تحوّل الفصل القديمتان.
وكثير من أعيادها مدرج على قوائم التراث غير المادي لدى اليونسكو — منها المصارعة بالزيت في كركبنار، ومهرجان مسير معجون، وهدرلز، ومراسم «السماع» المولوية — وبعضها يُقام في المكان نفسه منذ مئات السنين.
