ペルーの大きな祭りはアンデスのものです。サクサイワマンで再び演じられるインカの太陽の祭り、氷河の下への巡礼、クスコの聖人たちの行列、そしてチチカカ湖畔の何週間もの踊り。ここではカトリックの祝日とアンデスの信仰が長く織り合わされてきました。

この地図に載るペルーの祭りは、いずれも南部アンデス、クスコとプーノの周辺のものです。その多くはカトリックの信心と、より古いアンデスの信仰を混ぜ合わせています。聖母カンデラリアの祭りはアンデスの世界観を示すしるしとともに祝われ、コイユル・リティの巡礼はカトリックの信心をスペイン到来以前の自然の神々への崇敬と結びつけます。
そのうち二つはユネスコの無形文化遺産の代表一覧表に記載されています。コイユル・リティの巡礼が2011年、プーノの聖母カンデラリアの祭りが2014年です。
Festividad de la Virgen de la Candelaria

Corpus Christi del Cusco
On the feast of Corpus Christi, the parishes of Cusco carry fifteen images of saints and virgins into the Plaza de Armas, where they process with the cathedral’s gold and silver monstrance and then stay in the cathedral for a week — a Catholic feast shaped by centuries of Andean devotion and rivalry.

Every 24 June, Cusco stages the great sun festival of the Inca Empire — a procession from the temple of Qorikancha through the Plaza de Armas to the stone terraces of Saqsaywaman, with hundreds of performers, revived in 1944 from the accounts of a sixteenth-century chronicler.
