चंद्र मास की पहली पूर्णिमा, यानी पहले चंद्र-मास के पंद्रहवें दिन का कंदील-पर्व “छोटा नववर्ष” भी कहलाता है। ताइवान का पर्यटन प्रशासन इसकी रीतियाँ इस प्रकार बताता है: देवताओं की पूजा, कंदीलों पर लिखी पहेलियों का अनुमान, चावल के आटे के गोले खाना, और कंदीलों को आकाश में छोड़ना। एक प्रचलित कहावत इसके दो सर्वाधिक प्रसिद्ध आयोजनों को समेट देती है: “उत्तर में आकाश-कंदील, दक्षिण में मधुमक्खी-राकेट”।
